PHILIP KOTLER VIDEO

An enjoyable journey through the history of marketing with one of the discipline's leading figures.

Marketing touches the humanities because it influences and creates new ways of life.

The United States was the birthplace of marketing, which emerged around 1910; Kotler amusingly identifies Adam and Eve's serpent as history's first marketing man.

Economists notice that price alone does not determine demand, and that advertising plays an important role.

Marketing takes its first steps within companies' sales departments, handling the activities salespeople did not want to do or did not know how to do: market research, lead generation and the creation of promotional material. The function grows until it becomes a department in its own right.

It is very interesting when Kotler explains the secret behind the strongest companies' success: these companies are loved by customers and, paradoxically, this also makes them the companies that invest proportionally less in advertising.
