WALL STREET VIDEO

From the 1987 film Wall Street

Gordon Gekko, the great shark of finance (played in the film by Micheal Douglas, who won an Oscar for the role), teaches the young broker Buddy (Charles Sheen) a lesson about the value of information.

Quote from the film:

The greatest commodity I know of is information.
People out there throw darts at a target. I do not throw any darts: I only bet on a sure thing!
Read Sun Tzu's The Art of War: every battle is won before it is fought!
Most of these Harvard graduates are not worth a s..t; you need people who are poor, smart and hungry! No feelings. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, but you keep fighting, and if you want a friend, get a dog.

I want to be amazed! Information: it does not matter where or how you get it, get it!

The film, directed by Oliver Stone, is an exposé that shines a spotlight on insider trading and on an American society whose only measure of success is money.

The fact remains that in the marketing world, data is of little use unless it produces information.
